Exploring Aural Diversity 樂齡聲音感知與音樂表達

Project Description

Exploring Aural Diversity is an intergenerational program that investigates differences in auditory perception and musical expression. Supported by the Ministry of Culture’s Cultural Equality initiative, the project connects seniors and youth through a sequence of workshops that combine sound, memory, and accessible interface design. Activities explored how hearing differences shape creative processes and how technology can support inclusive forms of musical participation.

The series consists of four workshops. The Inclusive Musical Interface Workshop at National Tsing Hua University introduces student-designed prototypes tailored to the needs of older adults. Story Instrument Workshop ① brings together participants and seniors from LeTian Community(樂天社區)to transform personal memories into interactive sound objects using drawings and simple circuits. Story Instrument Workshop ② develops touch-responsive instruments made from everyday materials in collaboration with youth volunteers and Antinomy Company. In the AI x Memory Music Workshop, seniors create memory-based melodies through text-to-music tools, integrating emerging technologies into personal storytelling.

Together, these workshops outline a multifaceted approach to aural diversity, foregrounding inclusivity, shared creativity, and the role of technology in shaping new musical experiences.
